This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community-based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.

Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

Entry Requirements

International Students:

There are no prerequisites for international students to enter into this course but they must meet academic and english entry requirements.

Students must provide academic evidence of satisfactory completion of Year 12 or equivalent.

English Language Requirements
Student must provide evidence of attaining an overall IELTS score of 6 bands or equivalent scores on a similar test (such as PTE etc). OR
Student must have attained at least Upper Intermediate Level of English and must provide evidence of the same before commencing the course. OR
Student must have completed Certificate III in Spoken and Written English. OR
Student must satisfy the above requirement by successfully completing LLN test or English Placement test.

Assessment

At Axis Institute, a variety of assessment methods are employed to evaluate students’ competencies, and these methods can be utilised in varying combinations for different units. Students will be assessed using one or more of the following methods, which are applicable to each unit:

Satisfactory completion of each selected method is essential for meeting the assessment requirements, as each method contributes to partial completion of the overall assessment criteria.

Vocational Placement

The CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support course includes a 120-hour vocational placement component. After completing in-class and skills lab learning, including theoretical assessment components for the scheduled units, students are required to participate in vocational placement. This setup is designed to allow students to apply the skills they learned in the classroom and skills lab, as well as develop a comprehensive knowledge base that enriches their individual skill set and prepares them for employment in aged care environments.
